Opening of the Ancient Cemetery in Avigliana

The ancient cemetery of San Pietro is open on Sundays and public holidays from 10 AM to 5 PM, thanks to the association Amici di Avigliana, which preserves its memory.

The ancient cemetery of San Pietro is now included in the Atlas of Italian Cemeteries as a monumental cemetery and a place of remembrance. Furthermore, through the municipality, whose mayor Archinà received the registration certificate, it has been recognized by ASCE – Association of Significant Cemeteries in Europe.

"Parco della Dora” Hike – 22nd Edition

Starting from Avigliana F.S. Station, the route follows the right bank of the Dora Riparia along a cycling and pedestrian path to reach the Church of Madonna del Ponte (within Villa Quagliotti’s property), then continues towards the Old Bridge of Sant’Ambrogio. After crossing SS24 and a short stretch on SP, the hike proceeds through country roads to Villar Dora, with stops at the Chapel of San Rocco, the Parish Church, and the Castle Garden.

From Almese’s central Piazza Martiri, the route passes by the old washhouse, the Messa bridge, the birthplace of Scipione Riva Rocci, the square of the old Parish Church, and through the hamlets of Fucinassa and Gambabosco to reach Goja del Pis. The return to Piazza Martiri passes through Borgata Giorda, continuing to the Ricetto di San Mauro, along the Messa, through fields, and back to Avigliana via Borgata Grangia, then along Via Almese, the Corona Verde area, and the pedestrian bridge over the Dora, ending at Avigliana F.S. Station.

Various sections and organizations of the CAI (TAM, GEB, UGET, Intersezionale, and local sections), the FAI Delegation of the Susa Valley, the FIE (Italian Hiking Federation), Pro Natura Piemonte, and the municipalities of Avigliana, Almese, and Villar Dora.

Technical Information:
• Elevation gain: 180 m
• Distance: 18 km
• Difficulty level: E (Hiking)
• Duration: 5 hours (excluding stops)

Logistics:
• Meeting point: Avigliana railway station at 8:15 AM (coinciding with trains from Turin P.N. and Bussoleno)
• Arrival: Avigliana railway station at 6:00-6:30 PM (Train to Turin P.N. departs at 6:45 PM)

“Il Tempo delle Cattedrali” – The Musical at Teatro Fassino

The Fantastorie theater company, under the direction of Elisa Testa, presents Il Tempo delle Cattedrali, a musical inspired by Riccardo Cocciante’s “Notre Dame de Paris”. The event is sponsored by the Municipality of Avigliana and will be dedicated to Morena Guerini, a beloved performer of the company who recently passed away.

As a tribute to her memory, part of the proceeds will be donated to the Association for Road Accident Victims.
